It is with deep sadness that I am informing you Mr. Michael Kappel has passed away.
Mr. Kappel has been part of the Parma Hockey Association since it’s inception.
He has coached countless hockey players both on and off the ice for nearly 50 years. I am honored to say Mr. Kappel coached me when I was a kid and more recently coached my son Ian.
Mr. Kappel was dedicated to the Parma Hockey Association and was always regarded with the greatest respect. He was always there to talk with a player when they were down or give them advice when hockey life was just not going their way. He would take the entire teams skates on his hockey stick after practice, sharpen the skates and have them back for the kids at the next practice. He never asked for anything in return. He just wanted the kids to go and enjoy and love the sport that was so near to his own heart.
Anyone who had the privilege to be coached by him or even know him always knew he was a great man with a big hockey heart.
Attached is the funeral home information. Please come support your extended hockey family and wear your PHA jerseys.
