History

Over the rich 45+ year history of Parma Flyers hockey, there have been an untold amount of players who got their start wearing the Flyers red, white, and blue. Some of our most notable ones are: Brian Holzinger, Dan Fritsche, Kelli Stack, and Alexander Nedeljkovic. While these names are the most recognizable, they are just a few of our great athletes. Many others have gone on to achieve great things. Be it as a College, High School, Junior, AAA, or Semi-Professional hockey player.

"I started with the Parma Hockey Association I was 5 years old and had played for a variety of coaches. Ken Johnson was my squirt coach when we captured an Ohio State Championship. He made the game fun for us and led all of us to our first significant championship. " - Brian Holzinger

Parma started competing in the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (CSHL) in 1971. Over the years Parma has won countless championships. Many of those banners and trophies are still being proudly displayed at Ries rink.

Michael A. Ries Rink located in Forestwood Park began as an outdoor rink in 1958. Many things have changed over the life of this community rink. It now boasts 5 locker rooms, a concession stand, speaker system, a warm room, TV's, and a fireplace. It's a place Parma Flyers affectionately call home for months of the year. Where memories are made and talent is harvested.

Come join us as we continue to create some of the most talented young athletes in the Cleveland area. And together lets make the Parma Flyers rich history even richer.
