COVID-19 Policy
COVID-19 Policy
Updated 12/28/2021
As the Parma Hockey Association continues adapting to the coronavirus situation, the health and safety of our members remain our top priority. We trust that our members will follow this policy and the recommendations of the CDC as it relates to their personal situations.
The PHA requests that all members notify the PHA of a positive test or exposure to COVID-19. Members should notify their coach or team manager immediately and also email parmahockeycovid@gmail.com.
There have been some recent changes to the CDC’s quarantine guidelines for people exposed to COVID-19, and our policy has been updated accordingly. The PHA will continue to follow the ODH and CDC guidelines. Affected players may return to PHA activities when guidelines are met.
Positive COVID-19 Result
- If the player/coach is ASYMPTOMATIC (no fever or other symptoms)
- He/she may return to PHA activities on the 6th day after the positive test.
- He/she must wear a mask for an additional 5 days when around others. This includes: transportation; locker rooms; sitting/standing on the sidelines; and anytime the mask will not interfere with breathing, the activity, or create a safety hazard.
- If the player/coach is SYMPTOMATIC (including fever or other symptoms)
- He/she may return to PHA activities after symptoms resolve and no sooner than the 6th day after the positive test.
- He/she must wear a mask for 10 days following the positive test. This includes: transportation; locker rooms; sitting/standing on the sidelines; and anytime the mask will not interfere with breathing, the activity, or create a safety hazard.
Close Contact* Exposure to COVID-19
- If the player/coach has been FULLY VACCINATED (within 6 months from the date of exposure with the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine, or within 2 months from the date of exposure with the J&J vaccine) or has received the BOOSTER
- He/she may continue to participate in PHA activities.
- He/she must wear a mask, when able, for 10 days after exposure. This includes: transportation; locker rooms; sitting/standing on the sidelines; and anytime the mask will not interfere with breathing, the activity, or create a safety hazard.
- He/she should test on day 5, if possible.
- If he/she develops symptoms, he/she should test and continue to follow the appropriate guidelines.
- If the player/coach is UNVACCINATED, or has not received the BOOSTER, or was previously VACCINATED more than 6 months prior to the date of exposure with the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine, or more than 2 months prior to the date of exposure with the J&J vaccine
- He/she may return to PHA activities after 5 days (on the 6th day).
- He/she must wear a mask, when able, for an additional 5 days when around others.
Please Note: The tests referenced above are SARS-CoV-2 viral (PCR or antigen) tests. They should be proctored/observed by someone and cannot be an over-the-counter, at-home test that was self-administered without a proctor.

*The CDC defines a close contact as someone who was less than 6 feet away from an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes). In an indoor classroom setting, the close contact definition excludes students who were between 3 to 6 feet of an infected student if both the infected student and the exposed student(s) correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/contact-tracing/contact-tracing-plan/appendix.html#contact
